Artistic Expressions - Art Nouveau and Whimsical Femininity

The Unrulyness of the natural world, whimsical lines, and ornamental craftsmanship drew me into the world of Art Nouveau. Artistic expressions of this era that inspired me were drawn from multiple artists' works: the use of gold in the mosaics from Gustav Klimt, details from dresses designed and worn by fashion designer Emilie Folge, and the florals surrounding the alluring feminine figures of Alphonsa Mucha's illustrations.

I designed three looks. The first look, the swim dress, starts my collection off in a playful way, I see this look as one that could be in a modern-day illustration by Mucha. My second, more structured look plays into the mosaic style of Klimt in the fabric's pattern while drawing into the floral inspiration of Art Nouveau. My final look is inspired by the layers of sheer fabric and ruffles of a dress designed and worn by Emilie Folge with golden details in the fabric from Klimt'suse of gold in his artwork
